How we all make a difference
As well as supporting PCFA in raising awareness of prostate cancer, we intend for funds raised in 2017 to go towards the following;
- Patient information kits for every newly diagnosed man
- Funding toward Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses
50% of event net proceeds will continue to provide newly diagnosed men in WA and across Australia with resources that provide helpful information to guide them through their cancer journey. Currently, 1 in 4 men are missing out on the resources. Together we can raise the funds to provide every man affected by a prostate cancer diagnosis with this vital source of support.
The other 50% of net proceeds will go towards the funding of additional Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses. Many prostate cancer patients live without accessible or effective supportive care. Friends and families are vital, but specialist nurses have the knowledge and skills to help men at all stages of their complex cancer journey and the significant and varied choices confronting these men in the areas of – diagnosis, treatment and aftercare. Currently, 3 in 4 Australian men diagnosed with prostate cancer are missing out on this life-changing expert nursing support. Your fundraising efforts will give more men the chance to have a prostate cancer specialist nurse walk beside them every step of the way.
Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) is a broad based community organisation and the peak national body for prostate cancer in Australia.
PCFA is dedicated to reducing the impact of prostate cancer on Australian men, their partners and families, recognizing the diversity of the Australian community, through research awareness and support.
